National organizer of the URF Sumedha Rathnayake remains a SJB candidate despite his leader Patali Champika Ranawaka having withdrawn from the general election.
The chartered engineer opposes the party view and contests under the SJB’s ‘telephone’ symbol for Gampaha district.
Ranawaka has accused the SJB of having violated the MoU they had signed by not allotting him the promised quota of candidates.
URF secretary Bandula Chandrasekara wrote to his SJB counterpart Ranjith Madduma Bandara on 10 October, informing him that his party would leave their alliance.
