Accordingly, SLBC Chairman Jagath Wickramasinghe, Directors Nipuna Wahalathanthri, Gamini Wijesekera as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media have been asked to submit their resignations.
Media Ministry sources cited a decision by the Board of Directors to hand over a broadcasting station in Uda Radella, Nuwara Eliya, to a businessman without obtaining necessary approvals as one of the reasons for their dismissal.
The sources said that the businessman has already started construction on the site.
They also revealed that the Chairman and the Board of Directors have taken steps to transfer a frequency owned by the SLBC to a private entity without approval. A group of SLBC employees have lodged a complaint with the IGP regarding the matter.
The SLBC employees have also accused the Chairman of removing two antique pianos from the SLBC premises.
