A protest took place in front of the Negombo Municipal Council yesterday (15) against state repression and skyrocketing commodity prices.
Members of the committee for struggle in the area displayed placards that demonstrated their disapproval of the government.
Ministerial portfolios continue to be gifted to take the country further into abyss, they said.
Civil society activist Britto Fernando said the government was on a manhunt against leaders of the struggle to prevent another uprising by the people.
He warned president Ranil Wickremesinghe that he was wrong to think that state terrorism could repress the struggle, and stressed that they would continue until solutions are given to issues of the public.
