An outbreak of dangerous infectious diseases is imminent due to clinical waste not being disposed of properly, warns the association of health professionals.
Infections from parasites, bacteria, viruses and fungus such as meningitis, HIV and hepatitis B are likely, said president of the association of medical professionals Ravi Kumudesh.
According to him, a private company is being paid a wholly inadequate payment of Rs. 100 per kilo to dispose of the clinical waste.
A request has been made to increase this payment.
The payments in arrears and the fuel shortage is making matters worse, said Kumudesh.
