President Ranil Wickremesinghe has met Secretary General of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland during his recent visit to the United Kingdom.
Their meeting yesterday (20) took place on the sidelines of the president attending the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, said the president’s media division.
Sri Lanka’s engagement with the Commonwealth Secretariat and matters of mutual interest came under discussion.
The president also attended a reception hosted by the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs James Cleverly at the Church House earlier.
These events provided him the opportunity to interact with world leaders.
President pays a visit to the London Buddhist Vihara
President Ranil Wickremesinghe also visited the London Buddhist Vihara on September 20 paying a courtesy call on Ven. Dr. Bogoda Seelawimala Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Vihara and the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain and engaged in a brief discussion.
During the meeting Ven. Seelawimala Thera chanted Pirith and invoked blessings on the President and the people of Sri Lanka.
