Parliament has summoned the director of the CID to answer allegations of unlawfully tapping a telephone conversation by MP Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The CID chief and the telephone service provider have been asked to appear before the parliamentary committee on ethics and privileges on October 18, said its chairman Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
The telephone tapping that had allegedly taken place on September 24, 2021 relates to a CID investigation into a financial fraud in the Urban Development Ministry.
