The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted a one-day briefing session for a group of 30 senior officers of the Sri Lanka Police, on diplomatic formalities and practices to facilitate their official duties at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (13).
The briefing session began after Additional Secretary Dr. A.S.U. Mendis delivered the opening remarks, on behalf of Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane.
The programme consisted of a number of interactive sessions including international protocol, practices and customs as per the Vienna Convention and Diplomatic Privileges Act as well as the formalities of arranging visits of incoming foreign dignitaries.
Senior officials of the Foreign Ministry who have expertise and extensive experience in the diplomatic career, as well as legal officers participated in the programme as resource personnel.
