Leader of the 43 Brigade Patali Champika Ranawaka says he has presented a feasible set of proposals for the country’s progress.
The proposals can be implemented at the grassroots level unlike one million jobs, a higher Samurdhi allowance, a 10 billion US dollar revenue and other unrealities, he told a workshop in Ratnapura yesterday (27).
Chairman of 43 Brigade Karu Paranawithana, Ratnapura coordinator Manoj Sri Pathum and several other activists were present on the occasion.
At a time when all the parties are in crisis and a struggle is on for power, the country needs the mediation of capable and experienced moderates to bring about a new political culture, he said.
The poor are becoming poorer, while the budget has nothing to offer for them, but burdens them further with more taxes.
It has proposals to raise revenue, but nothing on cutting down expenditure, which should be exemplified from the president and the prime minister downwards, said Ranawaka.
He stressed commitment and working diligently as the way forward instead of the past practice of building political connections and grabbing whatever that comes the way.
