The chairman of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau has been removed with immediate effect while its director general has been sent on compulsory leave.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken the measures in view of the many complaints of fraud, corruption and irregularities in the institution.
They are among the 14 heads of state entities to be removed over numerous accusations since Wickremesinghe took over presidency, said sources at the Presidential Secretariat.
