A three-member bench of high court judges has delivered a judgement in a rare instance in civil law in Sri Lanka.
Galle municipal councilor Sanjeewa Lakmal Jayawardena filed a case against his expulsion from the UNFF and it was considered by a two-member panel in the civil appellate court.
With judges Sanjeewa Moraes and Mahen Weeraman taking a divided opinion, a request was made to the chief justice to appoint a third member.
Pradeep Hettiarachchi joined the panel that heard the case and on November 16 upheld a Colombo high court ruling and refused to issue an injunction in favour of the petitioner.
