A much talked-about cabinet reshuffle is getting postponed further, with the latest is that it will take place after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approves its loan arrangement for Sri Lanka, ‘lankadeepa.lk reported quoting government sources.
The USD 2.9 billion facility is likely to get the IMF Board’s approval next month.
Some months ago, the SLPP forwarded a list of its nominees to be ministers to president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The present cabinet of 18 members can have 12 more as per the constitution.
According to the sources, the additions will be SLFP’s Duminda Dissanayake, UNP’s Vajira Abeywardena, CWC’s Jeevan Thondaman, A.L.M. Athaulla, one SJB MP and the rest from the SLPP.
