Examinations chief L.M.D. Dharmasena has called for an immediate overhaul in the prevailing system of education.
That in turn should bring about an attitudinal change among children in order for them to take charge of the future, he said.
Darmasena was speaking at the 2019-2020 awards presentation at Seevali Central College in Ratnapura on December 21.
“If this country is to be revived, the traditional education system should be changed with a U-turn to create an attitudinal change among children in order for them to take charge of the future.... The traditional education system is useless,” he said.
The commissioner general of examinations also urged principals and teachers to allot five minutes a day to change attitude and bring out various skills in children.
