Around five million kgs of rice had gone missing from Polonnaruwa and Puttalam districts about 18 months ago, according to farmers’ trade union chief Namal Karunaratne.
He has told the media that no action has so far been taken with regard to the rice stock that remains unaccounted for after purchase and milling by the Paddy Marketing Board.
Karunaratne urged the president to inquire into this, as well as the rackets in rice importation.
