SLPP MP Nalaka Godahewa and two others were acquitted and released by the Colombo high court yesterday (26) in a financial misappropriation case.
They were accused of having misappropriated Rs. five million belonging to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for activities of ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ organization, when Godahewa was chairman of the SEC.
The other two were the former deputy director general of the SEC Dhammika Perera and sports director of ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ Ronnie Ibrahim.
Following a lengthy trial, Colombo HC judge Amal Ranaraja delivered the verdict.
