A police request for an order to prevent an agitation planned by university students in front of the Colombo magistrate’s court has been turned down.
The magistrate told Keselwatte police to use their powers if the silent protest would inconvenience the public.
The Inter University Students Fdederation (IUSF) is planning the agitation as Colombo chief magistrate Prasanna Alwis is due to rule on a bail application filed for IUSF convener Wasantha Mudalige presently in remand custody under the PTA.
