Justice minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has resigned from the ministerial subcommittee on coal procurement.
In his resignation letter to the cabinet secretary, the minister has cited two main reasons for the decision he has taken.
One is the reluctance of officials to fully inform the committee which prevents it from making correct decisions, and his not being properly informed about the committee meetings.
Meanwhile, Lanka Coal Company said it was yet to receive the money to pay for the three shipments that have arrived.
Its chairman Shehan Sumanasekara said Rs. 12.5 billion is required for the purpose.
