The 110-year-old Public Performance Board Act is to be replaced with a new one.
Ex-PPB chairman Saman Athaudahetti heads a committee that has been appointed by president’s secretary Saman Ekanayake to come up with a basic draft.
Its other members are Asoka Handagama, Anoma Rajakaruna, Rajitha Dissanayake and Jagath Wickremanayake.
Athaudahetti said the draft is under preparation to reflect new trends and developments in performing arts and in accordance with the freedom of expression ensured in the constitution.
It has been mandated by the policy statement presented by president Ranil Wickremesinghe at the opening of the new session of the current parliament.
A basic draft is expected to be completed within two months.
