SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has claimed a select committee has evidently decided to appoint him chairman of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF).
He charged parliament’s communication department of having created a serious issue by refusing to accept that decision.
De Silva said he would raise the matter from the speaker today (22), as he has been told by chief opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella and secretary general of parliament Dhammika Dassanayake that he would be appointed to head CPF.
The SJB MP was the committee’s chairman in the third session of ninth parliament, and lost the position after its prorogation.
