An audit report has questioned the productiveness of around Rs. 8,000 million paid to university lecturers as academic allowances in the past 10 years, lankadeepa.lk reports.
Most had not either used study material or submitted research studies for the payments they had received at the rate of 30 percent of their salary.
The audit report notes with concern the absence of any post-review mechanism to ensure that lecturers improve on their academic studies.
