The government has been urged to pay an interim allowance of Rs. 20,000 per month to state sector workers, until they are given a salary increase.
Teacher trade unionist Joseph Stalin made the call at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (02).
He said that with state sector workers already unable to manage with their salary, increased taxes and loan interests are burdening them further.
Stalin said a joint trade union action would be taken to win their demands.
