The CID is investigating to determine how a confidential letter by the police chief has got leaked to lankaenews.com website.
The letter by IGP C.D. Wickramaratne had been meant only for the secretary of the public security ministry and the police commission.
Social media is now sharing the letter which relates to the finding of more than Rs. 17.8 million in cash by anti-government protestors from President’s House on July 07 last year.
It alleged DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon had ordered the Colombo Fort OIC not to investigate it.
Following a court order, the SIU investigated the matter and two weeks ago reported to the IGP via report no. SIU/340/2022, which makes Tennakoon the first accused over inaction.
