The government ignores the salient features of the IMF’s recommendations for Sri Lanka and speaks only about selling state assets, charged leader of the 43 Brigade Patali Champika Ranawaka.
Speaking to the media on March 31, MP Ranawaka said he demonstrated, during his tenures as a minister, on how to transform state enterprises into profit-earning status.
He called for a very strong and independent mechanism to regulate any privatizations, and reiterated the need for a scientific approach to identify the enterprises needing privatization through a management audit.
The government should raise awareness and win over the people when implementing the IMF programme, Ranawaka also said.
Coordinator of the 43 Brigade Bandula Chandrasekara also addressed the media briefing.
