The present regime will continue to be in power next year too, said president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He, however, warned that power of governance will be lost for them if government politicians refrain from visiting the villages.
Therefore, Wickremesinghe urged them to utilize the development funds allotted after two years for the upliftment of the villages.
The president was speaking at a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (04) to discuss development work in Gampaha.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga organized the meeting, notably attended by district leaders of the SLPP, SLFP and the UNP.
Excepting state minister Indika Anuruddha, all government MPs too, were in attendance.
MPs Sisira Jayakody and Milan Jayatilake could not take part as they are presently out of the country.
