URF leader Patali Champika Ranawaka has urged the president to explain his priority – either to revive the economy by restructuring debt by June or to see that Rajapaksas are elected to parliament again.
The five Rajapaksas are planning to prevent the election of a parliament without them after 1931, said Ranawaka, and asked the president if he wanted to hold parliamentary polls for their re-election.
Well-knowing that they cannot get votes again, Basil Rajapaksa has suddenly become a democrat and is plotting to keep their place in national politics, the URF leader charged.
The presidential election should take place within a month from 17 September this year, he insisted.
