Today (20) is the last day given by National People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake for Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) chief Sajith Premadasa to finalize a date for their proposed debate.
Dissanayake said on May Day the debate should take place before the 20th.
If he disagrees, he will be considered as having fled the debate on economic policies, added the NPP leader.
Now, the SJB has written a letter to the NPP giving its dates for the debate.
Although it was dated the 17th, the letter was received only on the 19th afternoon, said NPP’s Nalinda Jayatissa.
In that letter, the SJB gives four days after 20th May to choose from for a debate between their economic committees.
However, the NPP proposed the leaders meet first, followed by a debate between their economic committees.
