Lying, deceiving and swindling the people should not take place if the country’s journey forward is to become a success, said opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.
As temporary custodians of the country, rulers need to understand that they should think about the country only and not about their political survival, when signing agreements, he said.
Premadasa was speaking after handing over smart classroom equipment for Sam Rifai Hajiar College in Beruwala.
He urged the rulers to think about the 22 million countrymen without deceiving them.
If the country is to come out of bankruptcy, it should be in a position to paying back its borrowings, he noted.
