Poverty cannot be eliminated by taking to the streets shouting slogans, said president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He was speaking at a discussion in Colombo yesterday (08) with regard to the cooperative moment.
Chairmen and directors of cooperative societies across the island attended.
The president told them that the country was on the path to recovery due to the agreement with the IMF.
If that gets affected any way, the country will revert back to the period of queues, he warned.
With Sri Lanka going against IMF agreements on 17 occasions, the president said he has been told by the IMF that there would be no 18th time.
