The Asia Rugby (AR) has extended fullest support to develop the game of rugby in Sri Lanka.
Sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe met with AR president Qais Al Dhalai at the Dubai headquarters yesterday (19).
The Sports Ministry said a stabilization committee appointed to uplift the local game was discussed at their meeting.
Ranasinghe noted that his ministry had to intervene in affairs of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) as per the law due to its years of inaction.
An election will be held early August to elect office-bearers, he promised.
He also thanked the AR for lifting the ban on SLR.
President Al Dhalai welcomed the measures taken and expressed readiness to support in the upliftment of Sri Lanka’s rugby.
