Colombo Strikers overcame B-Love Kandy by nine runs in their LPL 2023 encounter in Colombo yesterday (13).
Batting first, the Colombo team posted 169 for nine as Pathum Nissanka made 51 and Nipun Dhananjaya scored 40.
In bowling for the Kandyans, Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Kandy managed 160 for eight, with Wanindu making 40.
Matheesha Pathirana and Jeffrey Vandersay claimed two wickets each in bowling for the winners.
With this win, they share equal total points of six with Jaffna and Galle teams.
The trio are fighting to claim the two top spots in the eliminator round.
Galle claims third win
In the other game for the day, Jaffna Kings were beaten by Galle Titans by seven wickets.
The Jaffna team managed 89 all out in 20 overs, as Kasun Rajitha dismantled their top-order with figures of four for 20.
Galle Titans recorded their third win by reaching 90 for three in 13.3 overs.
Tim Seifert top-scored with 55.
Wellalage claims orange cap
Meanwhile, Jaffna team’s Dunith Wellalage has claimed the orange cap for the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
He received it from Sri Lanka Cricket’s vice president Jayantha Dharmadasa.
Wellalage has captured 10 wickets in seven games at a strike rate of 14.2.
