An investigation unit to prevent sports offences has been appointed through a gazette extraordinary.
Sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe has issued the notification to give this unit into effect from 15 February, 2023.
ASP Jayanath Wanasinghe is the director of this committee mandated for a three-year tenure.
It will practically implement provisions in clause 21 of the act relating to the prevention of sports offences.
